In February this year, Thomas Michel our CTO, gave a presentation at the AstriCon24 conference in Florida, on integrating Threads call transcription into the FreePBX open source Private Branch Exchange. Although Threads was originally designed to work with any PBX, we have had significant demand to integrate it tightly with FreePBX which is at the heart of so many private telephone systems and adopted by major commercial telephone system providers such as Sangoma.
Although Thomas’s presentation is about the FreePBX implementation, a large proportion of the talk covers the value and general challenges of call transcription as applicable to any PBX.
